According to Sheldon (1988), textbooks are the pivotal element of English language teaching programs. Every textbook should be evaluated before use with regard to the specific needs of the students and the classroom. This study focuses on evaluating Special English for the Students of Computer published by SAMT from both the students’ and teachers’ viewpoints. The aim of the study was to evaluate whether this ESP (or Technical English Language) textbook taught in Iran for BA students of Computer satisfied students' objectives, needs, and wants from students’ and ESP teachers’ perspectives. Participants included three ESP teachers and 83 computer students who completed a Likert scale questionnaire, attended a semi-structured interview and were observed. The results of the analysis indicated that there was no significant difference between the students' and teachers' views regarding practical concern, subject matter, skills and strategies, exercises, design and content of the book. Their overall view was that the textbook, in spite of having certain merits, focused mainly on reading skills and overlooked other skills and sub-skills including speaking and grammatical structure.}, keywords = {Computer,Evaluation,SAMT publication,Special English for the Students of Computer,Students,Teachers}, title_fa = {ارزیابی کتاب درسی انگلیسی تخصصی برای دانشجویان رشته ی کامپیوتر (انتشارات سمت): دیدگاه دانشجویان و مدرسان زبان تخصصی رشته ی کامپیوتر}, abstract_fa = {کتابهای درسی انگلیسی برای اهداف ویژه نقشی اساسی در موفقیت برنامههای آموزش زبان دارند. شلدون[1] (1988) بر این باور است که کتابهای درسی موتور محرکهی برنامههای آموزش زبان انگلیسی هستند. هر کتاب درسی باید قبل از استفاده، با توجه به نیازهای خاص دانشجویان کلاسِ درس، مورد ارزیابی قرار گیرد. مطالعهی حاضر به ارزیابی کتاب درسی انگلیسی تخصصی برای دانشجویان کامپیوتر[2] انتشارات سمت از دیدگاه دانشجویان و مدرسان میپردازد. هدف از انجام این مطالعه این است که آیا از دیدگاه دانشجویان و مدرسان، کتاب درسی انگلیسی برای اهداف ویژه (زبان تخصصی) که در ایران برای دانشجویان کارشناسی رشتهی کامپیوتر تدریس میشود، اهداف، نیازها و خواستههای دانشجویان این رشته را تامین میکند. شرکت کنندگان در این پژوهش سه مدرس زبان تخصصی و 83 دانشجوی کامپیوتر بودند که یک پرسشنامه در مقیاس لیکرت را تکمیل نموده، در یک مصاحبه نیمه ساختمند شرکت کرده و مورد مشاهده واقع شدند. نتایج تجزیه و تحلیل دادهها نشان داد که بین نظرات دانشجویان و مدرسان در مورد ملاحظات عملی، موضوع، مهارتها و راهبردها، تمرینات،  طراحی و محتوای کتاب تفاوت معناداری وجود ندارد. دیدگاه کلی آنها این بود که این کتاب درسی، به رغم داشتن شایستگیهای خاص، عمدتا بر روی مهارتهای خواندن تمرکز کرده و طبق اظهارات آنها، مهارتهای دیگر از جمله مکالمه و دستور زبان را نادیده گرفته است.  }, keywords_fa = {کتاب انگلیسی تخصصی برای دانشجویان کامپیوتر,انتشارات سمت,ارزیابی,رشته‌ی کامپیوتر,دانشجویان,مدرسان}, url = {https://jlts.um.ac.ir/article_30306.html}, eprint = {https://jlts.um.ac.ir/article_30306_e1933a1118ae2a02546fe3b09056e03a.pdf} }
